The NLC "Laser Tube Cutting" was designed to process thin wall borosilicate glass. The system is composed of a single laser shared between four processing lanes. While one lane is cutting, the other three are feeding or ejecting and getting ready to receive the laser again. A software algorithm determines which lane is ready first and directs the laser to that lane. This makes the most efficient use of the laser as possible. All four lanes can be run simultaneously or individually depending upon current needs.

This particular Laser Tube Cutting produces 40+ parts per minute. The laser produces clean, fire-polished, sterile edges. Cutting lengths are all computer controlled and set through a touch screen operator interface. Machine size and capability can be easily scaled up or down to meet most budget and production needs. A second generation machine has been developed that employs only three moving parts per lane thus eliminating almost all mechanical service issues. Although this machine was designed specifically for thin wall borosilicate glass, other types of glass and wall thicknesses can also be processed. Call us to discuss your specific needs.

Laser Tube Cutting applications:

• Laser Tube Cutting of raw stock to specific lengths, for example cutting a 60" long piece into 3" lengths.
• Laser Tube Cutting thin walled tubing to length in the manufacture of crushable vile dispensers leaving clean fire polished edges.
• Laser Tube Cutting/separating glass parts that are made in connected pairs. For example pippettes are a tube with a large opening on one end and drawn down to a small opening on the other end. They are manufactured by taking a simple tube of glass, heating the central region and pulling them apart which necks down the diameter of the glass in the middle. We then can take the laser and cut the central region thus separating the two pippettes.
• Laser Tube Cutting Trimming test tubes to a specific length for use in sensor manufacturing.
• Laser Tube Cutting Trimming Quartz tubing to length for florescent light bulb manufacturing.
• Laser Tube Cutting Cleaving of Capilary tubing having inside diameters as small as 50 microns without reducing the inside diameter at the cut zone.
• Laser Tube Cutting Ceramic Tubing to length.
